It's that time again! The Wiki team, including many of our contributors here, are very pleased to share what we've been up to this month.

As of time of writing, we have pages for 806 devices. More and more of these devices are ones we're digging deep to find more information about, so if you have any details (links, photos, manuals, owner's notes) please get in touch and we can document it. We suspect that the finish line is around 900 equipment pages, but there's also a lot more information to be gathered to make each page as complete as possible.

Most of the new additions this month have been automotive head units added by new contributor JDub. Thanks JDub!! These head units are a combination of OEM vehicle decks and aftermarket replacements.

For OEM, we're trying to find the original manufacturers. Most seem to be by Fujitsu Ten, Pioneer, or Panasonic (Matsushita), but with such little documentation out there it's a long-term hunt to find this detail. In the meantime, we may move each of the car OEM units into their own manufacturer category to keep things tidy.

If you come across any detail on these units (or any others!) please add it to the respective page, or contact us if you have any issues editing pages yourself. Our contribution guide should cover everything about how to edit pages, but we can always assist with markup and questions. If the contribution guide is missing anything, let us know so we can improve it.

We haven't mentioned this in our monthly updates before, but our first ever Secret Santa disc exchange is almost complete! 25 of us at the #secret-santa-disc channel on the Wiki Discord server have exchanged mix discs and shown off their artistic flair with labels and J-cards.

It's too late to join for this year, but we're excited to have even more people join for next year's exchange (or other exchanges, if there's demand.) We have a page to catalogue the discs as they're received: https://www.minidisc.wiki/community/secret-santa/2021/start

A massive thanks to Wiki leader Spraggle for organizing and arranging the swap - it's been a brilliant experience!

2021 has been a great year for the Wiki, and for MiniDisc fans as a whole. From under 100 devices listed to over 800 now, plus all of our new guides, resources, and community growth. We've also seen new projects and additions to existing tools like Web MiniDisc. I can now confidently say that the subreddit, the wiki, and the Discord server are the undisputed modern homes of the MD format on the web, and we couldn't have done it without each and every one of you.

There's still so much to do - more repair guides (especially for ToC errors and gear breakages on portables), a shorter guide for Vaporwave fans getting into MD, adding eBay links on equipment pages, technical documents, merchandise, finishing the releases section, working closer with record labels to advertise new releases, and more social media presence. As always, please tell us what you want to see from us, or add it yourself! The Wiki is, always has been, and always will be a community site. It's your resource, so help us make it even better for the years to come.
