  1. Andy Hunter – Lifelight
    • This is a song that I've loved since the first time I heard it in an AMV by Nostromo, titled “Galaxy Bounce”( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMiuN8ULd_c ), way back in 2012.
    • The strong beat and crystal clear vocals pull me in, and the creepy number station clips in the slower sections give me shivers almost every time I heard it.
  2. Gorillaz – Doncamatic
    • I know, I know, probably everybody knows of the Gorillaz… I feel like this is one of their lesser-known songs, though, and it's one of my favorites.
    • It's got a funky beat, and it's fun to sing along to, despite the barely-coherent lyrics common to Gorillaz songs.
  3. Daft Punk – Veridis Quo
    • Again, I know, everybody knows Daft Punk, but Discovery is an album that I could listen to on repeat forever, and it gets at least one song into nearly every playlist I make, and this is no exception.
    • Veridis Quo is a song that can snap me out of almost any mood I'm in and just bring me straight back to relaxed.
  4. Macross Frontier – Diamond Crevasse
    • Hope you don't mind a bit of Japanese.
    • Macross is an anime series where music brings about the end of a war, by being the bridge between cultures, the raw emotions getting across even if there's not a language in common.
    • Also fighter jets that transform into mech suits.
    • They also seem to launch more missiles than should fit into the mech.
  5. Eureka seveN – L.F.O.
    • Just sink into the beat and let it drive for a while… I really don't have much else to say about this one.
    • Eureka seveN is another mecha anime, but this time they have giant surfboards that fly on waves of light.
    • Still too many missiles, though.
  6. Daft Punk – Giorgio by Moroder
    • I've always loved listening to stories about how things came to be, and when they're about music, and accompanied by examples? All the better.
  7. The Protomen – Unrest in The House Of Light
    • And now a different kind of story…
    • This and the next two tracks are from a group called The Protomen, and their “main” albums tell a version of the story of the early Megaman games.
    • They originally did this as a rebellious final project for a music class they were taking, going against everything their classes had taught them was the “correct” way to produce their songs, and… Somehow ended up with a fairly large following despite that.
    • This first song is sung from the perspective of Dr. Light, telling Megaman the plight of the city being controlled by Wily's robots, and begging him not to try to take up the fight alone.
  8. The Protomen – The Will Of One
    • Megaman, being Megaman, decides to try to take up the fight alone.
  9. The Protomen – Breaking Out
    • This one is from The Protomen's second album, and is sung from the perspective of Joe, a civilian who can't stand living under Wily's control, escaping from the city to try to find someone with the power to help…
    • Obviously these do not tell the full story, but they're a good glimpse into the world. And hopefully the title of the next track will be your response!
  10. Machinae Supremacy – Gimme More
    • With a healthy dose of SID sounds, Gimme More is a wonderful blend of metal, chiptune, and… Britney Spears?
    • Huh, I actually didn't know that this was a cover until I was looking it up just now to write this…
    • The more you know!
  11. Castlevania – Bloody Tears (Metal Speed Mix)
    • Ahhh, Castlevania… The only games where you'll find a full-sized ham inside a candlestick…
    • Bloody Tears is one of those videogame tunes that’s so catchy, you're surprised it's not the main theme of the series.
    • Despite my best efforts, I can't find the actual source of this version, and this is the best quality version of it that seems to be on the internet.
  12. Warinside – Battle With Red
    • The ultimate battle of Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal is a battle against the protagonist of Pokemon Red, and it has a unique theme that takes the normal trainer battle tune and cranks it up to 11, and this cover of it by Warinside takes it up another few notches!
  13. MC Frontalot – It Is Pitch Dark
    • >look

You are in the midst of a song by MC Frontalot, about the good old days of text-based adventure games; Zork, in this case!

Nerdcore is one of those odd genres that unless you listen to it, you've probably never heard of it, but songs about early videogames are par for the course!

Available exits: Pause, Next, Previous, Stop.
  14. MC Chris – Fett’s ‘Vette
    • Another example of nerdcore, this time about everybody's favorite bounty hunter from Star Wars!
  15. Da Vinci’s Notebook – The Gates
    • Ever had a day where your computer just won't cooperate?
    • Ever wish you could hunt down the guy who made it work that way?
    • You're not alone, and this song is about just that!
  16. Battleblock Theater – Secret Area
    • I think the best description for this comes from the YouTube comments section:
    • “Okay, team. We need some music for the secret rooms.”
[ Stamper barges through the door with a bag of cocaine ]
      ”I’ve got this, guys.”
