This unit is the European version of the CMT-J500. Both units use the HCD-CP505 as their main unit, however the J500 says it only supports 100v, whereas the CP505MD says 230v.

The main body part# is HCD-CP505. It may have been sold separately without speakers.

CD, MD, Cassette, and AM/FM Tuner device. Supports MDLP. Optional PC-Link, PCLK-M10/A, for easy retitle/editing support. Note that this is not a netMD device. It is ATRAC Type-S device.

Seems to be a minor revision of the previous CMT-CP500MD (which is ATRAC Type-R device.).

MD Mechanism Type: MDM-7S2C
Optical Pick-up Type: KMS-262E
ATRAC IC: CXD2664R

CD Mechanism Type: BU-30B

Rubber Belts:
MD Mechanism: 17×0.8×0.8
CD Mechanism: 35×1.4

A common fault with this unit seems to be the disc drive making a clicking noise. This appears to be a fault related to one of the gears inside the mechanism cracking, causing it to click when the laser moves quickly inside of the unit. Replacing the gear should fix the issue.

Note: Release date assumed from manual. This seems to be an EU model that was announced / released in late 2002.
