Control

Combination of an MD Drive, scanner, and 9.5inch monochrome LCD touch capable display (states 8 levels of greyscale). The drive is an MD-Data drive, and can support up to 1000 A4 files on each disc. The scanner can scan a single A4 page in about 4 seconds. Scanned documents can be edited and searched (built-in OCR?), and the device can also be used as a memo pad.

Had a few optional accessories:

  • PDK-1 Printer Cable - allowed the device to connect to a “Centronics Parallel Compliant Printer (Amphenol 36 pin)”
  • PDN-1 Handy Scanner - External scanner for things hard to capture with the built in scanner (press release mentions curved surfaces, bindings, and postcards)
  • PDC-PDF5 Main Unit Storage Case
  • PDB-PDF5 Main Unit Storage Bag

Notes

Device will not read/write/play non-Data MD discs.

  • “Pressed” CD-mode MD are detected immediately by sensor switch in drive.
  • Recordable MD are detected after reading MD TOC.

Any attempt to use non-Data MD will give the error: 「ディスクの種類が違うため、対応できません。」 Translated: “Unable to support the disc because it is a different type.”
