Control

Playback only unit that supports ATRAC3 (MDLP) available in Silver, Blue and Red. The main unit is constructed with an aluminum face and a plastic body. It is equipped with a PWM digital amplifier and has a 3mW + 3mW output. Anti-Skip protection is 50 seconds when playing SP mode tracks, 105 seconds when playing LP2 mode tracks, and 210 seconds when playing LP4 mode tracks.

The unit is very lightweight but it doesn't have a cheap feel to it. On the main body the volume and track seek buttons are dual purpose with a 3-way selector switch to change the functions between Hold, Seek and Volume. This can be a little annoying if not using it with the remote.

Included accessories were stereo headphones, LCD remote control, NiMH battery (gumstick type) BN-R129, charging stand, AC adapter, dry battery case, carrying pouch.

Battery Performance

Rechargeable BN-R129

  • 49 hours (SP) / 67 hours (LP2) / 90 hours (LP4)

Rechargeable BN-R129 + 1 x AA alkaline battery

  • 134 hours (SP) / 187 hours (LP2) / 250 hours (LP4)
