Considered a "cost reduced" version. Has no mic sensitivity, no erase button (though the option is in the edit menu), no time/date stamp, and the remote has no LCD (though the [[:equipment:sony:portable:mz-r55|MZ-R55]] remote (and other LCD remotes) work with it).
