Sony CD/MD combo PC speaker bookshelf system. Works as PC speakers over USB, and will also work as a netMD recorder after switching modes. Will work as USB PC speakers and with Sonicstage on Windows 10.
Can write discs through netMD using Sony's SonicStage or OpenMG software. Device playback can be controlled using these programs. Can also record to MD from a CD directly at 4x speed.
Recently, support has been added for all LAM Series decks to web minidisc. This device has been tested and works completely without issue. You can also usePlatinum-MD v 1.2.0 or later to write discs (though it is quite buggy).
Notes for Modern Day Buyers:
- Nearly all LAM-Z05 have issues with all speaker wire jackets crumbling. The speakers can be difficult to get into, so it isn't necessarily an easy fix. You can just splice a new wire onto whats left of the old, however.
- The speaker connector is a proprietary Sony miniDIN connector, no way to hook up standard speakers without a handmade adapter. There is a headphone output though.
- The device has NO AUDIO INPUTS. Only way to write MiniDiscs is through netMD or a direct transfer from CD.
