The LCX-MT22 is an all-in-one type MD component system, integrating a CD player, cassette deck, and tuner into an about 16cm-wide center unit. Including the speakers, the entire unit is approximately 43cm wide. Its compact size allows it to fit just about anywhere.

The LCX-MT22 is based on the popular LCX-MD250, featuring CD to MD double-speed dubbing and a remote control unit that can be used to operate the cassette deck, CD, MD, tuner, and amplifier. The updated unit is packed with many more new features for easy operation, including MDLP mode for extended 2x and 4x speed MD stereo recording and playback; an MD Group function that stores tracks by group; and simple MD group editing. It is also easy to input MD titles with the ten-key remote control unit, which has a keypad like a cellular phone. In addition, the unit features a USB terminal for connection to a personal computer.

The main unit and speakers are available in four colors - white, blue, pink, and yellow - to match the user's taste and interior decor. The LCX-MT22 is aimed at teenagers and women in their early 20s, as well as consumers planning to upgrade from radio cassette recorders to MD component systems.
